George Papastergiou, M.D.

Dr. George Papastergiou is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of complex retinal diseases. With extensive clinical research experience and numerous peer-reviewed publications, he is a leader in retinal disease treatment and innovation.

As a principal investigator in national research studies on macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, Dr. Papastergiou has contributed to groundbreaking advancements in ophthalmology. He is also a respected reviewer for major ophthalmology journals, including the Journal of Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the European Journal of Ophthalmology.

With nearly a decade of private practice experience, Dr. Papastergiou has practiced in Greece, Atlanta, and Honolulu before bringing his expertise to San Diego and Imperial County.
